Business As Usual

I was not able to salvage as much of the three pages as i would have hoped. but i did write a little more. im not sure when i will be completely done with this chapter. it could be done in a couple of days if it wasnt for other...business i have to take care of. you see, i transfered to a new school this year which is great except for i didnt get the summer reading list until a couple weeks ago and only started reading a couple days ago. so you can see my dilemma. i have quite a bit to read which will cut greatly into my writing time for the next few days (it mihgt even cut it out entirely though i hope not). there is really nothing i can do about it.

my sincerest apologies...

so, as a treat i decided to put an excerpt of the next chapter here. only a few paragraphs because i really only have a few pages. but i hope you enjoy!

Excerpt from "Chapter 32 - Life Through Unclouded Eyes"

“So, where do you reckon Prongs is?” Sirius asked in a conversational voice, ignoring Remus’ outbreak except for giving him a quizzically raised eyebrow.

“On top of the astronomy tower?” Peter suggested in the same unnaturally bitter voice as before.

“I doubt it,” Remus said dryly, surprised by Peter’s uncharacteristically cynical attitude.

“Maybe he found Lily,” Sarah suggested with a high pitched giggle that made her sound no older than twelve, “It can’t be a coincidence that they are the only seventh years not here.” Remus’ eyes immediately scanned the table, concluding that Lily’s impossible to miss red head was not in the crowd. He wondered how he had not noticed it before.

“Hope not,” Sirius said, looking worried for the first time, “If so, Peter’s concern that he is on the astronomy tower might be legitimate.”

“James isn’t on the astronomy tower,” Remus assured his friends.

“You’re right,” Peter said, looking positively alarmed, “He might be at the bottom by now!” At this inane comment, Sirius’ eyes turned from weary to irritated and he smoothly shoved Peter onto the hard, marble floor, making him moan pitifully. Sarah gently knelt down to help him up. Remus ignored them. He was contemplating where James might be. He honestly believed that James was not on the top of the Astronomy tower - nor on the bottom - but James was inclined to do rash things when under emotional stress. Remus regretted the patronizing and sarcastic tone he had used earlier with James when his friend had obviously been under a lot of stress.

“I was suggesting,” Sarah said with an edge of annoyance in her voice, “that maybe James and Lily made up. Not that James was suicidal.” She glared at Sirius and Peter but neither one appeared ashamed of their irrational conclusions. Remus was about to say that she was probably right when Dumbledore cleared his throat.

He was standing behind the teachers’ table. On either side were the head of houses. McGonagall looked her usual severe self and Remus wondered whether she had noticed that there were two Gryffindors missing. She must have as there were only eight of them to begin with. Slughorn was glancing at the Gryffindor table more often than was usual which made Remus sure that he knew that his beloved Lily was missing.

“Excuse me,” Dumbledore began in a gracious voice, raising his hands to silence the gossiping students, “As the notice boards informed you, this meeting is to discuss the NEWTs and other related topics. Now I’m sure all of you have already begun studying for these life changing exams.” Dumbledore’s eyes twinkled knowingly when he saw rolled eyes respond to his unwelcome notion. “Now the majority-“ Dumbledore paused, staring at a side entrance. As Remus spun around, almost knocking into Sirius in the process, he immediately saw why.

Hope you enjoyed that!

Lots of love, Miia Mya
