Life here is grand
Foot fungus, rapidly spreading UTI, communication issues with medics and laypeople, insane business partner with a "love-triangle" tele novela in the workings, really bad sunburn, beggars, no air conditioning while the daily highs are around 37 degrees Celcius, sexual harassment on a daily basis, poor plumbing (no paper in the bowls...hard to get used to), constant threat of robbery, public transportation (I know, things could be worse), potential housemates flaking out while I relish the company of the cockroaches, rats, and spiders, those are the things that I really won't miss when I leave...
Fresh exotic fruits and veggies for extremely cheap (4 Avocados for $.50), little monkies in the streets, dancing and music and rythm and life constantly around, parakeets flying to the window every morning, the most stunning bayside view ever, never having a lack of things to do, fairly cheap cost of living, knowing that I am not going to starve because of fortunate circumstances that have always surrounded me, pretty cool new friends, everyone can fuckin' dance!, relaxed pace of life, coconut and banana trees everywhere, great views over bad neighborhoods, awesome beaches, fun weekend trips, having my own business (not really there yet, but I'm working on it...) are the things that I might not be able to live without, here or any other country...
I am doing incredibly well, despite the itchy foot, and occasional culture shock. I hope that everyone at home is also well. I need to come up with some deep psychological post...I have plenty of time to think on my way to and from work (about 45 minutes walking each way...or 1:15 on the bus, depending on which business I am going to). Now I am going to buy avocados, and hope that my foot will magically stop itching on the way home. Sucks that I thought it was a bug bite...like 5 days ago. Damn. I won't catch the sunset today, but I will be able to do something fun tonight because I am not obligated to come in at any specific hour in the morning. I am going to enjoy my evening "de qualquer jeitu" however I fuckin' want.
