Quickly: Marine Corps Historic Half

May 20, 2008 09:22

The race was Sunday. I finished in 1:56:46 which means I met my goal of a sub-2 hour half marathon. It also means I set a new half marathon PR by about 11 minutes. The course through Fredericksburg was lovely, the crowd support was abundant, the Marines were unfailingly polite (I got called "ma'am" more times on Sunday than I ever have in my entire life), I felt really good, the weather was perfect...I had a fantastic time. Full race report with pictures will be on my official running blog sometime this week.

Now I have a month or so lull before beginning my marathon training (for Detroit in October). The Dexter-Ann Arbor Run(s) are on June 1 and I know I will be doing something that day but I don't know what (there are 3 choices: 5K, 10K, or half marathon). Otherwise I am just going to take it easy and bask in the glow of my first sub-2 hour half. Or, more accurately, nurse my sore quads back to health.
