Movie Rec: The Avengers
This recommendation is brought to you by the Hulk.
HULK LIKE MOVIE. HULK SMASH A LOT. HULK SMASH STUPID ALIENS. THAT FUN.
HULK FUNNY IN MOVIE. SOMETIMES HULK SMASH AND TINY HUMANS LAUGH SO MUCH THEY NOT HEAR HULK'S DIALOGUE.
HULK THINKS HULK MOVIE GET SEQUEL NOW.
Aside from Hulk generally stealing the last act, it's an excellent movie. I was particularly impressed by the way everyone got a chance to be awesome in every action scene, and by the way Black Widow got to be just as awesome as the boys. (AND she is not doing Victoria's Secret model poses throughout the movie... you know, like she is on the posters.)
Also? The big bad revealed in the post-credit scene? I just about spazzed out. I knew it. I knew it!!
Many fangirl cackles were had over that cameo, I can tell you.
My local movie theater had lines stretching out the door and around the corner for, apparently, every showing this weekend. I heartily approve of this embracing of fun, colorful comics by mainstream America. There is a reason millions of nerds love this stuff, people!
Oh, also: When you go to see it, make sure you stay all the way to the very, very end. There are TWO post-credit scenes, and the second one is a hoot.
