*looks a little pale and distracted, absent-mindedly fiddling with the locket around her neck* Right, so it's just you and me. *rolls her eyes* Ianto and Rose left awhile back - Owen and I were betting on how long it'd take them to leave, but neither of us actually caught them in the act.

*grumbles something about 'unreliable arses' then brightens* Well, I reckon we'll do a good enough job charming people on our own. You look lovely. *tilts her head* Though, a bit peaky. You all right? Did you eat the... shrimp things? *casts a Look in their direction* I'm not sure they've been cooked through. Or, you know, at all.

*shakes her head* I've just had this bloody headache all night, that's all. Haven't had anything to eat yet. *snorts* I'd say that Jack ought to have paired up people who wouldn't shag, but...well, I know Rose has slept with Owen and Jack, so...not much luck there. *shrug* Oh, well.

[mightygwen]

*rolls her eyes* Well, I'll just... keep this in mind in the future, eh? *folds her arms indignantly* *guides her closer to the food* Maybe you should eat something and at the very least... *snags a passing glass of champagne* ...have a drink.

*laughs weakly* 'm not entirely certain alcohol's a good idea, Gwen. *sips the champagne anyway* *eyes the food and eventually settles on the stuffed mushrooms Gwen was eating earlier* Right, so did you have a strategy in mind?

*waves her hand dismissively* Oh, alcohol's always a good idea. *sage nod* *shrugs* Well, sad as it is, I think we're just supposed to keep an eye on our people of interest and report if they slip out. *pops a mushroom cap into her mouth, looking pleased* 'S a boring job, but at least we get to look smashing while we do it.

Really? I thought we were supposed to chat them up. *snorts* Shows how much attention I pay during briefings. *winces, pressing a hand to her temple for a moment* At least I can sit down, then.

*leads her to an unoccupied table* I think that was the initial plan, but really, what would we say? "Hello, lovely night - are you up to anything secret I should know about?" *laughs a bit* Not that I wouldn't mind chatting up the Chancellor's daughter's suitor. *looks Martha over, concerned* Do you want anything? Glass of water, maybe?

*laughs* Owen and I were talking about that earlier, and we figured that I could just sort of lean forward a bit and distract them enough to get a few things to slip. *nods* Water would be good. *chuckles* If you don't know how to treat something, try hydration - either water or an intravenous saline drip.

*chuckles* Like I said, the pair of us should be good enough to charm anyone out of their secrets. *gives her a peculiar look* ...right. Well, I'll be right back. *goes to the bar and brings back two bottles of water, swinging by the buffet to snag some snacks for her as well*

*smiles gratefully at her and uncaps the water, taking a long swig* Oh, that's much better. *smirks* If we can't get secrets out of the men here, I think we ought to be asking for refunds on our dresses, because they clearly aren't working like they're supposed to.

*grins* Well, Torchwood sort of pair for this, so I reckon I'll hold onto it. *grins* *touches her teeny tiny comm suddenly and pulls a face* Oh, fantastic. I can't believe we've got to go after Ianto and Rose. Where do you reckon they've gone - or should we just canvas all the storerooms and supply closets? *smirks*

*rolls her eyes* Oh, brilliant. *caps her water, looking annoyed* Probably, yeah. Maybe the bathrooms. *steals a couple of stuffed mushrooms from Gwen*

*stands, sighing* I put way to much effort into looking nice tonight to go poking around after those two. *huffs a bit and heads for the door*

*stands and follows her* Should we stick together or split up?

*thinks a moment* Stick together, definitely. If we do find them, I want them to face the both of us. *nods firmly*
