My job hunt is going slower than expected and I'm wondering how long I'll be in this limbo like phase of part time employment.
A month ago I put my two weeks in at the glass company. I wasn't where I wanted to be, and I felt like I was just wasting time there because I wasn't making any kind of movement to a real career. I figured that if I had more time I could focus more intensely on finding a career worthy job.
The plan looked good on paper, I had saved about $5,000 so I could pay bills out of that in the intermittent time I wasn't working, which I hoped would be relatively short. Being shorthanded as they are, Phil and Ron (the owner and ops manager) were very understanding, they knew that I wasn't planning on staying there forever. They asked me if I would be willing to stay on part time (t,w,r) and that would let me have Monday and Friday to look for jobs and go on interviews. That wasn't a bad compromise because it keeps me from dipping too hard into my savings.
That was a very good thing because the first week of June my impala's engine died, which by the way was the reason I didn't show up at North/South War. Apparently the lower end was destroyed when antifreeze from the intake leaked into the oil. That cost me $2500 to replace the engine with a used one with 3000 miles.
Im hopeful that things will turn around soon. This last week I was able to get my resume in the hands of the Massachusetts attorney generals office trial division. One of Mary's family friends works in that division so I am hopeful that it will at least get me moving.
