More potentially good news
Met with Dr. Rackly, my neuro. She managed to force her way through the maze of Medicaid to find someone who did say the rules have changed, and Medicaid will pay for compounded meds now, and to have the pharmacy call her, specifically, and she'll make sure the ingredients are all covered and voila! I may be able to try Topamax, and potentially other migraine/tremor meds. WOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, side effects are weird and worrisome.... esp. the may cause lost weight. I weigh 140 now, so I have a bit of wiggle room. If I lose more than five, though, I'm going to have to work on keeping my weight up. But if it helps, I don't care!
The maze Dr. Rackly had to traverse is impressive... she printed out the emails showing the trail of who she called, who gave her the phone number of someone who gave her the email of someone else who finally said she would talk to the pharmacy and make it happen. *shaking head* I am SO glad I have a neuro willing and able to take the time to help me, cause I'm for damnsure not an easy patient!
