The second of the last two recommendation possibilities replied this morning, and said yes. Finally, a set of three, a trinitarian graduate school application support committee.
I can, at the very least, concentrate on getting the transcripts sent, finishing the online applications and getting GRE scores sent off. My final list of schools to which I'm going to apply are as follows:
University of Michigan
Michigan State University
Western Michigan University
Northwestern University
Ohio State University
I have a growing number of fellow high school and college classmates in the Chi-town area (including one from the Master's program at GU's history department who is now in the same program at Northwestern to which I'm applying), as well as Ann Arbor transplants and a couple of relatives. Kalamazoo is old stomping grounds--Kalamazoo College--and only 90 minutes away. I have friends a-plenty in Lansing and MSU is only an hour's drive from here. University of Michigan is in my back yard, and probably remains my top choice, even though it would mean working somewhere else once my degree was completed. Ohio State is a way to round it out to an even five. It's the bottom of my list primarily because I do not desire to be in Columbus that much, though I do believe I still have family there. Of course, it's my father side of my family tree, so YMMV.
So that's all she wrote. Gotta get my nose back to the grindstone tonight, so I can have this SOP polished and my personal statement ready for editing by Sunday.
I want to do this. I also can't wait until it's all done. The grad school application process is a tremendous pain in the ass, with the possibility of a reward at the end of months of wondering, whining, wishing and waiting.
