Sofia was waiting in Brass' office when he returned to PD. He quickly shed his jacket and sat down at his desk. His younger colleague looked up from her notes and waited for him to get settled before sharing her information. Brass couldn't help the small smile that formed on his lips as he remembered the hospital earlier.

“What?” Sofia demanded.

Brass waited for a beat before beginning his torment, “Your mom must have done cartwheels when you brought a nice young doctor home.”

Sofia's head fell back onto the couch and she let out a groan.

Brass laughed, “C'mon...I finally get to met Mr Harley-Davidson and you expect me to just leave it alone?”

“Case first, embarrass me later?”

Brass held up his hands, “Okay...Couldn't find the first victim, Abbey. Last known address was a children's home but she's not there now.”

Sofia scribbled the information down and then handed over a file, “I had Greg go over the video surveillance I picked up - we see the victim going into the park but nothing that could give us an attacker.”

“It may just be a coincidence. We're assuming the two attacks are connected, but it could just be that two kids happened to get attacked, taken to the same hospital and got treated by the same doctor.” Sofia raised an eyebrow and Brass shrugged. “I'm not buying it either. My gut tells me there's something in this.”

“You wanna take the new lead - track down this girl - and I'll stick with the boy.”

Brass smirked, “You get to go back to the handsome doctor and I get to trawl halfway houses?”

Sofia stood up and got ready to head out. “I'm equal opportunity, Jim. You want the handsome doctor I won't judge you.” She turned to stare down the older detective. She was determined to stop his teasing or she'd have to hear it all shift.

Brass laughed out loud. “Touché. I'll call you if I get anywhere.”

“Me too. Happy hunting.”

Brass called after Sofia as she left his office and delivered one more instruction, “Get back to CSI and put a rocket up their collective ass - and go back and really interview your doctor. He might know more than he thinks.”

'Because that's really going to make me popular.' Sofia thought. She was just as eager to catch this guy as Brass - indeed, he had no idea how much she wanted to stop this little crime spree. The fact that she didn't have kids at home didn't mean this didn't affect her just as much as the officers who did. Dumping her stuff atop the mounting pile on her desk, she decided that Sara probably wouldn't appreciate someone looking over her shoulder and bugging her for information she didn't have; if the CSI had something then she'd tell them.

That left Dr Alfie Sears.

It hadn't been an unpleasant surprise to see him again, at least not at the time. In truth, she'd missed him. Now, after she'd had time to think on it, Sofia found herself dreading going to see him. That wasn't true, it wasn't him, it was the memories he - and this case - stirred up, ones Sofia had no desire to revisit.

“Hey, Greg!”

An unruly mop of blond hair poked out of the open car door, “Yeah?”

Sara smirked as he tried, unsuccessfully, to squirm out of the foot well, “What are you doing?”

“Ah...does the reason you're here need me to get out of the car?”

“Don't think so. Why?”

“Because I don't think I can...”

Sara laughed, “I just needed a break from processing and thought I'd see what you were up to.”

Greg raised an eyebrow, “Checking up on me, Sidle?”

She clutched at her chest and asked innocently, “Me?...What exactly are you doing?”

“Ah-ha! When I was wading through the epic amounts of video footage Sofia gave me, I noted down the license plates of the cars going in and out of the park.”

“And?”

“And then I ran them. Patrol found this car abandoned in Summerlin. It was reported stolen on the night of the attack.”

“Really?” Sara stuck her head inside and made a quick assessment of this new piece of evidence. “Nice work.”

Her younger colleague grinned, “Why, thank you.”
