Rampant meme thievery from
manoosha 1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Paper - gotta love the wrapping of strange shaped gifts. THe kids get christmas pillow cases. Going to be hard to fit bikes into them this year. Doh!
2. Real tree or Artificial? Artificial. Live ones last about a minute.
3. When do you put up the tree? December 1 or thereabouts.
4. When do you take the tree down? All good intentions to take it down at epiphany, but it usually hangs round until the kids go back to school in late Jan/early Feb.
5. Do you like eggnog? I have never had it.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Bogey Bear.
7. Hardest person to buy for? Tony's brother in law - and we got him in the draw again this year.
8. Easiest person to buy for? Gilly - music, clothes and books.
9. Do you have a nativity scene? I do. It is beautiful clay figures. It was my grandmother's, and my grandfather got drunk one year and fell over onto the box, which he took as a sign from Oma that he should give it to me. Thanks to that, several of the shepherds and one wise man don't have heads. Gruesome.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? All good intentions to mail, and then email.
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Bad 80s fashion, modelled in all the photos of the time.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? The Boxing Day Test. (Unashamed cricket tragic here.)
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? The last few years I've put a lay-by on at the toy sales in July. I know - madness!
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I don't think so.
15. Favorite thing(s) to eat at Christmas? Vodka slush and cherries. (We have a ridiculously short cherry season here, and they are always really expensive.)
16. Lights on the tree? Little twinkly ones that hopefully the cats wont eat this year.
17. Favorite Christmas song? Stille Nacht was always sung by my grandmother, so it gives me a lump in my throat. I love The Silver Stars Are in the Sky as well. Very pretty Australian carol.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home? I'd rather stay home, but we usually end up travelling to the inlaws. Only an hour or two, but still.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Happy, Doc, Surly, Boozy and Inappropriately Grabby.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? We have an angel at the moment, but I prefer stars.
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? My family do Christmas Eve, then we do Christmas morning with the kids and see the outlaws for lunch Christmas Day.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Turning a year older? No - that doesn't really bother me. Probably when my MIL insists on a hot lunch in the heat (even with no AC at the new place). We try and talk her out of it most years, and then she sighs and says it's just not proper christmas. I think she's kind of missing the point of the day.
23. What theme or color are you using? HotchPotch Extravaganza I think is its official name...
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? HAM! Ham ham ham ham lovely haaaaam beautiful haaaam!
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? I am probably more difficult to buy for than my BIL. The Mr has already ordered the nifty
Crumpler bag that I have been a-hankering after.
26. How many trees do you put up? One. Lordy - if I put up more than one I'd still be taking them down in June!
27. "Kid" ornaments or "grown-up" ornaments? Does "grown-up" mean they match? Mine are really a mess - bits and bobs collected over the years, plus every construction paper and felt monstrosity that has ever been brought home by the kidlets and this manky red reindeer that is slowly peeling off all its fur but I've had it since forever.
28. Charlie Brown Christmas, Grinch, or Year Without a Santa Claus (w/Heat and Cold Mizers) We don't really have these here. I'm sure Jim Carrey's Grinch will be on, but I'm not a fan.
29. Who is likely to respond to this? Everyone! Go on - get in the spirit!
30. Who is least likely to respond to this? SANTA CLAUS, because he is being far too busy and important right now. [pokes tongue out at Noosh]
