Snowflakes, Pimping, and why my tentacles are in a knot
HEY THERE! - we still need some authors for the Reversebang. Author sign-ups close in 10 days and at the moment we have slightly fewer authors than artists. I know you Northers don't want to know, but it's hot here. And almost a drought, for subtropical Auckland where the plants aren't used to endless warm dry days. Driest summer for over 50 years, and I've been lugging garden hoses about quite a bit. I have lettuce, dwarf beans, spinach and two probably ill-advised chili pepper plants in tubs on the deck, all growing like triffids.
Work's been busy, and sticky, and I'm sleep deprived as per, and panicking about my
tentaclebigbang draft deadline, also as per. I've had to revise plans for the tentacular story, as although I do want to write a sequel to my due South/Galaxy Quest fic sometime, it's just too hard to figure out how to make it stand alone for this fest without a hell of a lot of "As you know, Bob". So I'm veering back towards SGA for the tentacles and have a plot idea which is leaning towards the dark side of the trope spectrum. Which is oddly harder to write than porn or crack, as it feels as though less suspension of disbelief's okay if it's a slightly creepy story, rather than cheerful porn. Not that there's no porn, because come on, it's tentacle-fic! But 10,000 words of it in the next 10 days? Ulp.

Snowflake Challenge #15: Share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you've received or have left for someone.
My most intense memories are from when falling into a fandom was like being on the good drugs. It's happened to me twice, and man, what a rush. Since then I've settled into a slightly saner relationship with my main squeeze, SGA, and it's the fanfiction that's grabbed me with all the other fandoms above - the canon hasn't turned me on in quite the same way.
