This morning, it was raining, a lot, so we went to the grocery store to get in some practice. We worked
the dogs up and down the aisles, had them heel while holding onto the cart, worked on "follow" and got
some practice pulling the cart behind us while working the dog. Other than a little sniffing out of
boredom when we first got started, Vrona was wonderful! She was very interested in making sure that the
cart got enough clearance, too.
She was very jealous of the other dogs when she had to sit and wait for her turn to work the store. There
is a little cafe area, and that is where we sat to wait our turn to work. This little one would be very
happy if we were on the go all of the time.
We also had the public access lecture this morning. I knew most of it, but it is always nice to hear
another perspective. The woman who does the lecture is also a Seeing Eye graduate, which is very nice.
This afternoon, we went to the mall. Vrona was so so fantastic. Her trainer said she has never been in a
mall, but she was awesome! I had her gentle leader on so that if she pulled too hard or got sniffy in the
food court, I could have much better control of her head. We did escalators, took a glass elevator and
walked by glass partitions that looked down over the level below us. She was right on the mark, and I
can't wait to get her home. I do think this dog will be another one I will always be so proud to have
worked with. Hopefully, we are together for countless years.
We now have are harnesses, and I am calling it her "Little Vroom Suit". I don't remember what the song actually says, but I have been singing to the tune of some older song that says something about little something something...I know that doesn't help, but that's too bad. It makes her dance, and that's the goal.
We have the evening off, and I don't know what to do with myself. I will probably see how many hours of work I can get in before I officially crash and burn.
