Licorice and I are just over one month into our time together. She has done a lot of growing up!
She now takes the time to listen to me, and we are actually defeating that pesky come when I call you thing. She is so very cute, and whenever she comes, she likes to rub up against me like a little big cat.
She had roundworms, and now that she has been treated, she is thankfully gaining weight like crazy. I was a little worried for awhile there, but she is looking good! Baby girl was four months on the 18th, and I think things are really starting to click in that little mind of hers.
I took her to her first Custom Canines training class, and she was a total spaz, but I expect that to improve as the prospect of tons of dogs all over the place becomes less exciting.
Last weekend, she went to Costco, Home Depot and Staples. She also went to a friend's house for a good part of the afternoon and slept quietly in her kennel...after some acrobatics. The kennel she was napping in was a very light-weight portable kennel made out of a tent-like nylon. She ran into the kennel and down to the other end. Suddenly, the kennel was gone! I reached forward to locate it and realized that she had flipped it up on its end and was contentedly chewing on a bone she was borrowing from Hailey, the resident black labby. I guess she decided that the dimentions of the back of the kennel were smaller and therefore a better fit for her little self. I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time!
The weekend before that, I took her with me up to Le Crosse for the day, and she was so good! A friend walked her and went to four different stores and tried her best to wear the little lady out.
She is completely house-broken and keeps a very nice clean kennel at night. She will actually practically charge the front door when it is time to go outside. Though I was really not excited about the idea of another puppy since Dayton is still rather youthful, I am really starting to fall for her long slender face and those silly little semi-curls on her back. I can tell she is trying so so hard to be a good little lady, and for that alone, I love her.
We start our mornings early, and she is teaching me to see the beauty in waking up with the sunrise once more...this is a beauty I had lost track of as of late.
She has a zest and enthusiasm for life that is new to me. Her boundless delight and energy in everything she does is contagious. I love watching her and dayton roll and tumble together, and I am glad he has met his match.
Here's to months more of growing and becoming even more beautiful and awesome. Let's go for it little lady!
