Home today

Jan 21, 2008 13:11

I'm home with Dan today.  Last night, about an hour before our bedtime, that horrible stomache flu that's been going around took hold of him.  He spent the night... well.. not restfully at all, I might say.  Poor guy!  He's so totally exhausted now, and in pain with a migraine, and still feeling nauseous.

So, once I realised that the night was going to be anything buy restful, and that Dan would be staying home today, and may still need me to take care of him, or even take him to a doctor, I made the call to my supervisor's voice-mail to let him know that I won't be in today.

It was a restless night for both of us, that's for sure.

At least, Dan WAS able to drink some water this morning - so important!  All that vomitting and.. stuff, is so dehydrating.

OTHERWISE, as some of you are already gathering from my manic laughter in the previous post, I did some shopping last night - on Luts... YEP...

Once I realised that the Limited Breakaway Bloody Valentine was going to be sold from the regular Delf section of Luts, just as LuWen was and the Elf Chiwoo was, I got hopeful.  I figured that this boded well, price-wise, for this doll, and decided that I would try to buy him... ... especially, since Luts still accepted PayPal too - until Jan 31.

And, 1 hour before he was released, Luts posted his price - which was so much less than their limited art-dolls, and much more comparable to LuWen and Chiwoo.

So, here he is (pics are from the Luts site):

And...  The dreaming head:

Of course, I did not spend the extra $200-$300 for the outfit, wig, shoes and makeup.

I shall buy a wig for this boy at a later point - probably from EBay.
I have a pair of shoes he can use for now, and a beautiful suit given to me by my lovely friends here in the
wpg_dollfie community.

The makeup I shall do myself, of course!  Ack!  This special boy does deserve a more professional faceup, but I just could not justify spending the additional $55 on each head at this point.  Maybe one day I'll get brave enough to send him off to a good artist.  Or, by then I'll have learned to air-brush... you never know.

I just have to say:  THANK THE UNIVERSE THAT I CURRENTLY HAVE A JOB!!!

Anyway, back to yesterday's "fun":

I sat at the computer for most of the day, checking Luts every hour, because they hadn't posted the release time for this boy.  They normally release at 12pm on the date, but this time they didn't actually specify that.

Finally, a couple of hours before the release, I looked up the time in Seoul (Korea), and realised that their 12pm would be at 9pm here, instead of 10pm, as I had originally thought!  I COULD HAVE MISSED HIM!

I left that handy little clock running, and just kept checking back on the Luts site.

About an hour before the release the price got posted, as I said, and that's about when I started to shake and stlightly hyperventilate!  At this point I knew that if I could secure the purchase, I could actually buy him!  Yikes!

About 40 minutes before the release I decided I'd not just keep checking for him on the site, but also "practice" which buttons I would click for my choices, so that my movements would hopefully be quick and efficient enough to get the purchase through, while all the other hopefuls for this limited doll were trying to do the same.

All that time there was a running discussion going on on DoA - much moral support, people making plans, hoping, crying, hyperventilating, shaking (me included).

Then, at 11:58 (Korean time), I did another one of my quick checks and instead of being able to "practice" I discovered that the SALE WAS ON!!! Ack!  So, I surprisingly kept my wits about me enough to click everything as planned, and finally click the "Add to cart" button, and go on to finalise the purchase.

Lucky I went with PayPal!  Luts actually gives you time to get your PayPal payment made, while CC can run into errors, and cancel your order because of taking too long to get the payment authorized.

Some people on the DoA Breakaway discussion thread were in real panic and tears at that point, because their orders did not go through, and they lost the dolls in their "shopping-carts" on Luts.

I got my Luts order confirmation e-mail, and made my PayPal payment, and then got onto the Q&A board and asked if it was received.

About 3.5 hours later, I got my payment confirmed e-mail, and answer on Q&A saying that yes, the payment was received.

So, by this point Dan was already having his stomach trouble, and my night was pretty much shot from the excitement, and the worry over Dan.  But, I have my Breakaway 2008 re-released boy (w/type 3 body) reserved and paid for!

So, although today I'm spending my time checking on Dan, and worrying about his health, I also feel like going "MWAHAHAHAHAHAH!"  every so often, 'cause I'm happy that I shall get one of my dream dollies, after all.

The expected wait for this doll to be ready is 35 to 45 days.  Since I ordered him without any extras, and if I'm lucky, he'll be ready to ship to me by Feb 26, 2008.

...sigh...
