Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! Here's to all the strong women out there, the single mothers, the women of color, the disabled, the queer, the incarcernated, the poor, the stay-at-home carers, the professionals, and everyone in between. Today is the radical envisioning of what can happen when you put women in the center of action. GOOD sent me this really awesome email about the the Strong Families Initiative. Read the stories from all the complexities of motherhood, from nursing to sexuality to working to race and immigration.

I Skyped with parents and gejugeshou this morning. <3! Yay for talking with family. I missed our weekly Skype chats because of stupid computer.

In the afternoon, I hung out with Claire, the new French intern at the office, doing arts stuff. We went to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, the Art Centre Sunday Market, and the Love and Devotion Persian poetry exhibit at the State Library. What an art filled day! =D I really loved the Citizens Band exhibit at the ACCA - 4 videos of music in public spaces "performed" by normal people. It really made me feel connected with life.

inspirations, family matters, world travels: australia, art without a frame, confidence crusade, womynism, taking initiative
