In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
This is my fifth year participating in Snowflake. I usually end up doing just a few of the challenges, after which real life gets in the way. I'm aiming this year to do better, but we'll see. Even if I don't manage to do more than one challenge, I always enjoy whatever I end up doing.
The reason why I love this so much, is because fandom is such a big part of my life and my identity. It isn't always easy to truly connect with that part of me among all my mental health issues and lack of time due to work commitments, and Snowflake is a great way to remind myself that that part still exists, and especially how that part deserves *celebration and attention* as well.
I also really like the sense of community it creates; seeing so much of the fandom community come together to celebrate the life of fans is a great weapon against feelings of disconnect.
Oh, LJ and DW, I love you both. Thank you for keeping my social life, well, alive. Feel free to comment on either site.
