gakked from AQ and havoc:

The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in, and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, Ancient Rome, Regency England, etc). Hrm. I can't come up with any way to do this, since there would not be any Japanese people in the country at the time, let alone a Japanese woman on her own. Also Travis would almost certainly be a slave. :(

*sigh* Oh well. It did get me in a Malcolm/Hoshi mood, though, and I found a tolerably good fic to read while I eat my I-hate-being-a-woman munchies. So... not a total loss. ;-)

I guess I don't really stop and think about ethnicities in these historical AUs so much as characters. This might be the fault of Denzel Washington playing a Spanish prince in Much Ado About Nothing. ;-)

EDIT: Mely points out he could have had some Moorish blood. Pfft. Figures she'd blast holes into my stellar example, even if it was a long-shot sort of hole... darn her!! LOL

I could've worked around the Travis thing somehow but I know Japan was closed to all foreigners until the mid-1800s and that's tripping me up. And Hoshi is one of my favorite characters on the show! *sob*

Malcolm/Hoshi FTW! Did you ever read my M/H stuff? It's not online any more, of course...

LOL, I should have thought through my suggestion better. I was just suddenly, inexplicably excited about the idea of playing the AU game with the Enterprise folks (I watched Dead Stop last week with my friend when I went to visit her). And I wanted to think of an AU era that I'd never seen before, so I threw those two together in about five seconds ( ... )
