first off:
listen to the following bands, because i know good music.
*radio 4 (im a little late on getting to these guys but the hype machine is right, theyre really good)
*figurine (makes me wanna dance)
*chin up chin up (good ol fashioned indie rock that doesnt suck)
*jimmy edgar (first off hes my friend, but past that, his breezeblock set is the best electronic blipy beepy shit ive heard in ages.. and his stuff does somehow emulate deeeetroit)
*VHS or Beta (makes me wanna shake my tail feathers)
*Jute (finally gothish music makes a come back and its ten times better than it was before, when it was my scarlet life. plus julie, the lead singer, is a total sweetheart.)
*Blood brothers ( i wasnt a huge fan of piano island. i have it somewhere, ive listened to it twice maybe? i donno, its missing now. however, crimes blows me away. its the perfect combo of 'screamo' and 'pop' music. the choruses are catchy, and the music makes me wanna just.. do things, anything. music made by tweekers, for tweekers. and yes, the fans are annoying as all shit, but dont dismiss these guys. they put on a great live show, too.)
*Cooper Temple Clause (i saw them on the curosia festival, and found their stuff refreshingly british. the actual cds are a lot better because you can hear all the synth in it. i can't stop listening to these guys.)
*Califone (heron king blues is the best. not only are they cool guys with a totally nerdy sense of humor, they can all play well. if jared zehm were to turn thirty and have a band, it'd be califone. while there is some twang in it, it still rocks out. plus, i gotta support a chicago band)
*afrika baambaata (makes me wanna shake my ass, period. out on tommy boy, with a mix of gary neuman's metal.. whats not to love?)
*Mahjongg (another local chicago band, who know how to get you to shake your ass. ive yet to make it to a show but i hear they are totally awesome live.)
