Meditations: The Empress

Aug 22, 2008 22:48

So I began meditating on the third key The Empress the other day.  I found my BOTA lesson rather....well this section felt as though he was rambling a bit more than usual.  But I found the Highlights of the Tarot to be much more straight forward with me.

The empress is fundamentally Creative Imagination.  As opposed to the Virgin, cold, passive High Priestess, the Empress is married, happy and with child.  The waterfall and stream flow from the robes of the High Priestess and apparently all streams in the Tarot flow from her.  This card is littered with venus symbols (heart, dove, pearls, wheat, etc).  And while I know I'm not supposed to pay attention to the details this time around I found it interesting that her necklace has 7 pears (7 astrological planets) and 12 stars about her head (12 signs of the zodiac).

In completely other news I've begun doing a little digging and research on Norse Paganism.  One of my hobbies being genealogy I found that my scottish ancestors actually were Norse who one day decided to stop sailing and stay in scottland.  Probably a poor decision on their part but what can you do.  At any rate, I decided to start researching the Wyrd and move on from there.  I know the basics of the mythology but I want to get a better knowledge of it than that.  So looks like I have more books to buy, now just to find which ones.
