House panel OKs ban on same sex marriage in Texas The really juicy part - Rep. Martha Wong of Houston was among six Republican members of the State Affairs Committee who voted for House Joint Resolution 6. Rep. Jessica Farrar, D-Houston, cast the sole vote against the measure, and two other Democrats who sit on the committee were absent.
Wong, whose district includes Montrose, long the center of Houston's gay community, recommended against consideration of a broader version of the legislation that could have banned civil unions and domestic partnerships.
Uh huh - this goes out to all you people that said "No, really, Houston is different from the rest of Texas, we have a large gay community and we're verrrrry open minded when it comes to those kind of things" - BLOW ME. You obviously have your city (and state) confused with one that is not ass backwards.
In (slightly) less disturbing but still crappy news, the annoying DJ's from Alafuckingbama are following me, apparently. I just read that Turtle and Klein or whatever they're called are coming to the one country music station here. Meh, why can't they just let the people of Birmingham keep them?
I have a headache the size of my ass right now. I'm thinking that eating something might help so I'm going to do just that.
