Sectioned for organization's sake...
Hyde @ Anime Expo
Anime Expo's message to Otakon this year: When we bitchslap you, we whip out the claws!
"Hyde will be making a special appearance at the Tofu Booth at Anime Expo, where he will be interviewed on stage in front of a live audience!
Tofu is now taking submissions for questions! Send yours today and see if it gets chosen!" [credit: Tofu Records e-mail newsletter]
They also gave out the link for the TofuHyde MySpace: www.myspace.com/tofuhyde
It's actually pretty amusing, and has samples of his two new singles [Countdown and Season's Call] playing when you visit. Among his friends are L'arc~en~ciel and Nana Kitade, which are also legit Tofu MySpace's. Unlike the 'Gackt' user, who is just a poser. Allegedly, the actual Gackt MySpace page got taken down due to 'overly derogatory' comments. Figures. XD
Otakon/Nana Kitade
Also, from www.myspace.com/tofunanakitade[Nana Space]:
"Hello! We are having Nana's first US debut on July 11th!!!
We are having OTAKON concert, fashion show! and Instore Boston Virgin Megastore!
More information to come!
Come and hang out with Nana this summer!!!!
Staff"
....fashion show? I wonder if this is for Otakon or Boston? I don't think I've ever heard of Otakon having a fashion show before.... granted, Nana has the whole 'gothic lolita' thing going on, so I guess it would appeal to fans.
Thankfully, I don't think Anime Expo has time to do anymore reaming of Otakon. It's amazing how they kept adding stuff right up to the con date. I've only been checking on cons for five years or so, but I've never seen anything like it before.
Good Will Ambassadors PuffyAmiYumi
PuffyAmiYumi's US tour will include a stop in New York at the 'River to River Festival.' Also, they're new album-- Splurge, of all names-- will include a Teen Titans Theme ~POLYSICS' CR-06 MIX~ track. Could be interesting.
On their TofuRecords subsite: "At home, Puffy AmiYumi have become such emblems of international crossover success that government officials have selected them to be good will ambassadors for the nation’s 2006 Visit Japan tourism campaign."
Wow... didn't realize they were quite that popular. Pretty cool! If I could afford it, down the line, I'd go to another of their concerts.
And that concludes another convention fandom-packed update!
