So I'm eating one of my favorite summer lunches ever. Tuna, feta, cooked pasta, chickpeas and oil and vinegar. It's better with grape tomatoes and cucumber thrown in, but I don't have those, so I'm eating baby carrots instead. It's the cheapest lunch in the world, and yet filling and healthy.
I am pretty pleased with how life's going in my very first week as a real person in Boston. I can drive (and sometimes even park!) at
amarysta's and Judith's house without getting lost or breaking major traffic laws. I found a good Toyota dealership, and now my car has actual plates. I had my first run in with a genuine Masshole in Harvard Square, who actually stopped his car and rolled down the window in order to scream at me for improper blinker usage. I was actually pretty excited, since nobody's ever YELLED at me before. Angry gestures, sure, but in Maryland, we don't STOP to be angry. We don't even stop for red lights (unless there's a camera at the intersection).
This whole city driving thing isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. When I'm on the highway, I don't like being forced to drive at 80 in a 55 mile zone because someone's on my tail, I don't like the only food options being Grease or Grease Light. I'd rather be able to pull off the road whenever I like and grab a nosh, or pick up a friend or go shopping at a Gap outlet (yeah new pants!)
The only things missing in my life right now are Civilization IV for the mac, and a new means to download things from the internet (my Limewire won't open for some reason). Any suggestions on either problem?
