Today in history

Jan 20, 2009 19:32

I can't remember the last time I woke up this early without having to get on a plane.

Today history was made as Barack Obama became the 44th president and the first African-American president in this country.

Due to the timezone, to watch the inauguration in Hawaii, we had to wake up early. I woke up a little after 6 a.m. to watch the ceremony happen at 7. Originally I was going to wake up early and go down to school but by the time I would arrive I would have missed all the important events. Instead I watched it at the house. Once it seemed safe to go down to campus (and not miss any big event), I watched more of the broadcast at the campus center with other students.

Congratulations President Obama. Congratulations.
