Hurricane 's a comin'
Welcome to another status report as I try to figure out what I’m going to do next in Hawaii.
Today I was able to take care of some business with the teachers. I needed to talk to them about the classes I was suggested to take. I tried doing that last week but I never met up with them. I did this time so everything should be settled (he said while predicting all the teachers coming down with amnesia).
Right in Hawaii there is a hurricane coming. According to someone it is very rare for a hurricane to ever come near Hawaii. Once again, my ability to attract natural disasters proves it point. ~_~;; None of us here at the hostel are worried about it. There’s been a lot of coverage in newspapers and on the news saying it’s been downgraded and it’ll probably miss the state completely but we’re still going to get some rain and winds out of it. In the mean time I’m typing this on my bunk bed where I can get an Internet connection.
Moving on to housing, I discovered a slight bump in one of my backup plans. I called the YMCA asking if they take reservations. They don’t. It’s on a “first come, first serve” basis. While it’s probably cheapest to go there, I don’t want to go over to the YMCA and discover there’s no room for me. With a little help from my parents (my mom is back in Oregon now), we were able to find a very cheap hotel near Waikiki and, by accident, close to the hostel I’ll be moving to next week. I might end up finding another place beside the hotel but it’s nice to know for a fact that I have a place to stay that last week.
Let’s see, I also got my student ID, discovered that pretty much everything on campus closes at 4:30, and bought all of my books for classes. Oh, I also bought a bag to help carry stuff. I’m planning to use it to carry clothes while I drop off my big green bag with Diana.
