You know what's totally surreal? The fact that Lowell and I met two years ago this weekend...only two years ago, and now we're married and having a baby in less than a month. Weird. Good, but weird. :) I love him so much. :D ( Read more... )

As far as induction goes, the doctor has said he's willing to work with me on that...he said we would start "talking" about it should Gabe get beyond about 8 1/2 lbs, because he wants me to be able to have a vaginal delivery, and he's worried about the shoulders getting too big, which is one of the problems babies born to mothers with GD have. I asked him then about the risk of C-section, because I know that half of all inductions end up in C-section, and he told me he has a really low C-section rate (which I already knew from my cousin), and he has to do inductions on a regular basis, due to the fact he *is* a high-risk OB. He told me he would let me try natural induction methods first, though, and everything would be contingent upon my sugars, my BP (which is still really good, woot!) and the baby's size.

I'm getting that pump!! I compared it to the Medela PIS, and it seemed the better deal for the price, and I liked the fact the Ameda has the added protection of the HygeniKit (??). I found a place on the web that sells them for 200, but shipping is free, and you get two replacement valves and silicone diaphragms (sp?) for free, which is a good thing. :) I had a long talk with the woman from our local WIC office, and as far as I can tell, they only offer pumps (the Medela Lactina) for rental; they don't have the funding to buy breastpumps to give away...or something like that. I think it's just they've given away a lot of pumps and the mother doesn't even end up BFing.

So, how is your output with that pump? Will it be good for returning to work full time?

Whenever you have time with the clothes, that's fine...you're a busy lady now, with that cute little bugger to take care of. :D

Ugh...is it *normal* for my freaking pelvis to hurt this bad?! Bah!!

Talk to you soon, dear.

I'm glad to hear that your doctor is willing to work with you on that. Unfortunately, I didn't get much of an option there because everyone, including the doctor's and my families where guilt tripping me to be induced although I knew everything would be alright in my heart. And it would've been, upon looking back on it. It's an issue that still has me depressed, so just make sure if they DO want to induce you, do what is in YOUR heart and don't let anyone else tell you what to do! Your doctor seems mega cool though. That rocks!

Yeah, that's probably how it is with the WIC office. The girl who gave me the pump there told me that they had that problem and I had to PROMISE to continue breastfeeding if I was going to get a pump to keep- apparently they'de given out quite a few to mother's who decided that they didn't want to continue pumping. Did you rent a Medela Lactina off them? For some reason, although it was a powerful pump, I really hated using it. I thought it was SHITE. I love the Ameda Truly Yours though. I have ALWAYS had a problem with my output though. I know I make enough for Jakob, but for some reason when it comes to pumping, I'm lucky if I get an ounce out. :( That's not the pump though. That's just me.

And yes, the pelvic pain is normal! Mine was horrid, especially in the morning when I would get out of bed! I felt like I was going to die! Feel better. I can't wait until you have Gabe. You BETTERRRRRRRR post pictures!! LOL! :)

Take care :)

No, I didn't even ask, because she said they wouldn't be able to give me one until I delivered, and even then, wouldn't be able to give me one until about a month (I think) before I went back to work. The more I weighed the pro's and con's, I thought it would be better to just buy my own, especially since I'm going to massage therapy school next fall, and I'll need my own, then. I might as well get one while I have the money, right?

Mu doc is really cool, I like him a lot, and I trust him. He's really supportive of my decision to go as natural as possible, which you don't get a lot around here (the midwest, as you well know). As far as induction goes, I would rather be induced than have a c-section due to a huge baby, but if that's the case, it's almost six of one, half a dozen of the other, which you also well know. I'm pretty stubborn, though...it's one of those things where I could always say, "All right, you're the doctor, and I trust you, but I trust myself and my body more on this point. You can't induce me if I don't show up." Or something. This would be after a lengthy discussion with Lowell, though...of course. Now, I'm rambling, so I'll stop. :D

My pelvic pain SUCKS in the morning! And during the night, when I get up to pee, I feel like an old woman as much as I limp. :( I'm also doing exercises and stretches to get my pelvis to open up, so I'm sure that doesn't *help* the pain, lol.

Don't worry, I'll post pics... :D I promise.

*hugs*
