So, I've committed fic. Crossover fic. It's a WIP, and pretty much as it says on the tin:
Let Slip the Dogs of War (4431 words) by
MidniteMarauderChapters: 2/?
Fandom:
The Avengers (2012),
Marvel Cinematic Universe,
Harry Potter - J. K. RowlingRating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Sirius Black/Remus Lupin, Clint Barton/Phil Coulson
Characters: Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Clint Barton, Phil Coulson, Natasha Romanov, Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Thor (Marvel)
Additional Tags: Animal Transformation, Corgi!Clint, Crossover, Magic, Humor, New York City - the new Hellmouth, Crack
Summary:
Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are living in New York City. Clint Barton, unfazed by aliens, gods, and Doombots alike, probably shouldn't be so surprised to find out that wizards actually exist. (Or the one where Clint gets turned into a Corgi and makes an Animagus friend.)
Truncated Author's Notes: HUGE thanks to my betas,
whymzycal,
bethbethbeth, and
red_squared, who give the best ball-busting critiques and help save me from myself. Title from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Also, for purposes of this story, it's 2012, Remus & Sirius survived, are raising Teddy, and have moved to NYC. Avengers-wise, it's MCU (movie) canon only with theft of 616 villains only.

I almost wish I could say "I have no idea where this came from", except that would be a lie. :-P There's a thing in the Clint/Coulson section of fandom where someone posted a prompt on the kink meme with a corgi .gif asking for fic where Clint gets turned into a corgi. I have a serious weakness for these stories (and there are several!) which is probably magnified tenfold by my history of MWPP-Remus/Sirius love, because, you know, Sirius is a dog. And then one day (with some enabling) my brain just kind of thought, "Ah - Two great tastes that taste great together!" and gave me a craving for Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
I've only posted the first two chapters, although the third is (longer! and) complete (and betaed!) and I'm a couple thousand words into the fourth, but I haven't posted a WIP since my Trixie Belden days, and I want to get a bit more of the story solidified on 'paper'. When I write, especially long stories, what tends to happen -- even when I have things plotted out (as I do here) -- is that I'll get near the end and some new *idea* will pop into my head (or one of my betas will point something out) that I must add to the story right NOW. Lots of times that involves adding things to earlier parts to seed the idea. Which is great - I love when that happens. Only it's not so great when it happens and you've already posted most of the story and now you can't retcon it. :-P
I'm figuring six chapters, but again, this is me, the person who thought she could write a short
rs_small_gifts 1,000-3,000 word fic. And we know how most of those turned out. (News flash: 13K, 10K, 20K. Current fic has 13K written, though only 4,400 posted.)
So yeah. That. Um, Hi?
