There's gonna be fireworks ...

lauriegilbert retweeted a link last night about how a Bonfire Night fireworks show in Oban (Scotland) was ruined by a technical glitch that caused all of the fireworks to be set off simultaneously, and all I could think was "OMG! Sirius did it!"

(red_squared, gryffindorj, and mindabbles will understand that right away! Hee! Last year, we decided arbitrarily that Sirius was clearly born on Bonfire Night, and each wrote him birthday fic accordingly)

And speaking of "Sirius' birthday", Happy Belated Birthday to xylodemon who very appropriately shares Sirius' fake birthday, Happy Birthday today to songquake, and Happy Early Birthday to ignipes, topaz_eyes, and lls_mutant!! ♥ ♥ ♥!!! I ♥ you all!

After work on Friday, I started watching the korean drama Coffee Prince - finally, after having watched the first episode months ago - and ended up staying up all night and into the afternoon on Saturday to watch all seventeen hour-long episodes. I haven't done a marathon like that in a while, and thank god for the end of daylight savings time so I got an extra hour of sleep last night!

Clearly I enjoyed it and couldn't stop watching even for sleep. Basically, it's the story of a poor girl (Eun Chan) who looks very androgynous (has short hair, doesn't wear makeup, and is very strong) who gets mistaken for a boy by a guy from a rich family (Han Gyul), who, while not really a playboy, is very spoilt. Han Gyul's mother and grandmother make him go on a bunch of blind dates because they want him to to get married, and he hires Eun Chan to pretend to be his boyfriend to ruin all of the dates. From there, Grandma, who isn't done with trying to make her bum grandson work and make something of his life, blackmails him into co-running a coffee shop that she owns. The shop is run down and barely makes any profit, and he has three months to increase profits by 300% if he wants any inheritance from her.

He decides the name of the shop will be Coffee Prince, and hires Eun Chan as one of the "princes" to work there. You can probably guess what happens next, but I'm not going to spoil it in case you want to watch it yourself. (Link above.) The cast is really terrific, and while there's a bit of gross food humour, and no shortage of scenes of people using the toilet/urinals, it's a very amusing romantic comedy with a touch of angst, love triangles, and other fun cliches. Very entertaining.

I think I still like Secret Garden a teeny bit more - it's another rich boy (CEO of a department store) falls for poor girl (stuntwoman) Rom Com, but also has the added hilarity of body/soul switching in the mix - but I really do love them both.
