Deep Fanfic Thoughts, by Jack Handey a/k/a Vali.
Those of you who remember the old days of SNL will get it right away, but for the rest of you young(er) 'uns, basically, Jack Handey was a real person, a humorist, who specialized in "surrealistic one-liner jokes." SNL would feature many of them regularly on the show.
Vali has taken the concept and applied it to fandom. She wrote it back in 2001 (!!) but in the grand scheme of things, fandom hasn't changed. And if you need a laugh for today, this is it!
In other news, thank you for all of the birthday wishes! ♥ ♥ My b-day was generally low key, as it usually is. Dinner with the family the night before, a day spent relaxing - at the beach for a bit and then finishing up a beta - and then dinner the following night with bethbethbeth and ziasudra. We went out in NYC for Korean BBQ where we proceeded to eat ALL THE THINGS!! It was REALLY NOMMY!!!
And then! Best of all! I got on the scale the next morning, and after the meat-o-rama fest, I DIDN'T GAIN ANY WEIGHT! (Maybe there was something to the Atkins diet after all. :-P) I've lost over 20 pounds since last Spring, (Yay! game_is_on!!) and yesterday I had to buy a few new pairs of pants/jeans because the ones I wore last Spring, I could pull them on and off without unbuttoning/unzipping. I still want to lose @ 30 more, (which, trust me, will still not put me anywhere near the "thin" category, but rather the "pretty damn comfortable and content with it" one) but for now, I'm very very pleased with myself. :) When I get my credit card bill at the end of the month, I may be less pleased, but why dwell on that now?
I'm still obsessed with the SuJu boys (and since they're all @ 20 (or more) years younger than I am, I can call them boys! Okay . . . young men!) and have discovered a new kindred spirit in shellydkitty and one of her friends. Needless to say, this makes me very happy. :)
