Three years later...
Hard to believe that it's been THREE YEARS since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released. Damn - where has the time gone?
09. Fanfiction: discuss
I read it, I write it (see icon), I think it's awesome. Even more, it's fun! Sure a very large majority of it is crap, but so are most media - books, television, movies, plays, music. It's all about personal taste anyway. Fritz loved Eminem and WWF Wrestling. I'd rather listen to a chorus of actual non-magical frogs and watch grass grow. Shoebox was lauded as the best R/S fic ever. I really don't care for it and never made it past @ chapter 3. (I also read the R & S finally kiss scene when it was posted, and the earth didn't move then either.) Different strokes and all that. *shrug*
But that's what's so awesome about fanfic. If you're sitting around and you get a hankering for, oh, non-con, dub-con, bukkake Lucius/Stan Shunpike fic set in Azkaban... *POOF* There it is! :-P
(Also, I think fanart is pretty darn nifty, too!)
10. Favorite book moment(s)
Honestly, I have so many I love. Harry's first view of Diagon Alley; Lupin's boggart lesson; the entire scene in PoA when all is revealed in the Shrieking Shack; the graveyard scene in GoF; the DA scenes; Harry in the pensieve seeing his father and Sirius, and his mother; the climax at the MoM in OotP; Ron after he ate Romilda's lovepotioned chocolates; breaking into Gringotts; "The Forest Again" when Harry walks with Remus, Sirius, James and Lily (probably my very favorite scene of all)...but that barely scratches the surface
But really, the best book moments of all was every single time I read those seven books for the first time, and how they captivated me, and really, utterly enchanted me. Watching Mark read the books for the first time now, I can remember a lot of things, but it's like an echo, and it's a bit sad that I know I can never actually experience those "first time" moments again. They were wonderful and special, and it's not just HP - I feel the same about all of my favorites. You never forget your first time. ;)
11. Character you're crushing on
Er, none exactly. But if you ask me which characters I think are/were hot, or "If Lisa were a character in HP, with whom would she want to Mmmphmmm?" Well...
Sirius Black (pre-Azkaban and OotP era, when he wasn't busy with Remus of course.)
Remus Lupin (when not otherwise occupied by Sirius Black, but yanno, I can share.)

It's really humid out, but there's such a gorgeous breeze that I had to keep the window open in my office here. (Even with the a/c on low in the living room. Yes, I know, but...gorgeous breeze!) It smells beachy and even the seagulls aren't annoying. I'd go down to the beach, but I'd never get the sand off me if I did.
Oh! Hello fellow HP fen! Did you all know there's a convention next April in New Hampshire? Aeternitas 2011 - April 28 - May 1. It's inexpensive, it's at what looks like a gorgeous location, even if it's rather off the beaten path, they're reserving the entire hotel for the con, and it's like a 5 1/2 - 6 hour drive from here, which is a piece of cake. Registration opens August 1.
