I no longer haz a
lauriegilbert :( She's gone off to the wilds of New Jersey for the rest of her US visit, alas. But we did have fun while she was here. Granted, she flitted about in NYC on Tuesday and Wednesday while I stayed home and worked, but yesterday I took the day off and we both went into the City. Had a fitting and bought really awesome (but expensive - holy shit!) bras at Intimacy up on 90th and Madison. Then we headed down to Chinatown to park (yes, I drove in. Shut up.) and took the subway up to 42nd street.
We had lunch at Ruby Tuesday, stopped into Midtown Comics to visit with
paranoidsistah, and then LG went to the NY Public Library, while I went to Kinokuniya to pick up the July issue of Ward with the last Gaiden chapter. (They had two, so
inksheddings, when I get to the post office next week, you'll haz prezzie. :-D Now I just need the translation, because OMG! Kanzeon! Goku! *dies*)
Then we headed down to Canal Street to meet up with
titti and do some shopping. Fifteen fell off a truck purses later... :-P Even I bought two Coach bags - one more of a over-the-shoulder briefcase/messenger bag than purse. (But I put all my purchases in it so I didn't have to schlep a lot of bags around, so win-win!)
We went to the Chinese Ice Cream Factory, but only LG got some. (Sesame! Yum!) We walked over to a nearby park and hung out for a bit, then did some more shopping, and headed across the street to Little Italy where we met up with
bethbethbeth,
ziasudra,
marksykins, and
cedarlibrarian for dinner at Il Cortile (my favorite restaurant in Little Italy), which was very yummy. Great food, great company, and great conversation - it was a perfect day. :)
LG and I also went to see Star Trek (in IMAX) on Tuesday night. My third time, her first. I still love it, but I'm not really feeling very fannish about it in a fic sense at the moment. I did pick up the novelization yesterday (yay for friends with discounts!) so I'll see how I feel after reading it. (It's Alan Dean Foster, so I'm sure I'll have dozens of nitpicks as well! :-P)
Today I slept until noon (It's all LG's fault!) so all the things I was supposed to do...well, it was kind of a wash. Ah well. It felt good to sleep in, I must say.
And now, three day weekend! W00t! Party at
ziasudra's tomorrow! (And
titti - I have your mango pudding so I'll bring it tomorrow! Hee!) Hope you all have fun things to do to as well!
I'll leave you with a Trek song, near and dear to my heart, for you Trek n00bs (and oldbies alike, too!)
The Firm - Star Trekkin'.
