On Valentine's morning, I was listening to a morning radio show in Austin called the Bobby Bones show. And, of course, they were attempting to do a heartfelt Valentine's Day segment...however, the segment sorta backfired.
The radio station helped a guy procure a limo, with flowers, etc. so that he could go to his girlfriend's house and propose. Only when he showed up, the girl was shocked..almost unable to speak. He told her that they were live on the radio, her response "Are you serious?". After dragging the poor sap along for awhile, she said "I'll call you later" and shut the door. The guy was in disbelief... and all of the djs felt sorry for him.
So what was supposed to be a nice Valentine's Day surprise ended up probably discouraging some of the male population to rethink any proposal on Valentine's Day.
Of course I was laughing through the entire thing (am I cold-hearted?) I really just think Valentine's Day is a silly holiday made up to force men to show how they care about their significant others. Here's a clue..you might want to show it a little more often than one day out of the year (just some friendly advise).
