i was just listening to a few tracks of the new damien album. there is just something about his music and his writing that stirs my soul. it is passionate, honest, but above all, there is a yearning, a deep hunger and thirst in his instruments, his lyrics, and in how he sings.

it's all very inspiring and depressing. or is it frustrating. i long to write worship songs that even transcend the feeling he inspires. and shouldn't i be able to? more than any earthly craving, i write to and for the greatest, awe inspiring Being in the universe. shouldn't my songs reflect that? shouldn't the songs of the Church be the most passionate, honest, and above all, express the deep yearning that every worshiper should have--and find--in their Creator?

help me Lord to write, play, and sing songs that are worthy of you. you deserve so much more than all this.
