So my luck never ceases to surprises me. After battling a cold all week and staying in three nights in a row in order to maintain and enhance my health, I decided that I would venture beyond 1001 Hilton Street last night. After watching part of Godfather II, I pampered myself with a nice long bath. Yet minutes after I got out of the bathtub, the bathroom went completely dark. I hear my mom telling me not to panic, that is was just the power. After getting dressed via candlelight, the power was still dead. This means no air conditioning, no TV, no fans, no lights (needless to say) and even no garage door opener! Yeah, you heard correctly, without power, we can't open the garage door. This means Laura cannot leave the house unless she gets a ride. Oh, and how would I get a ride? You guessed it, I would have to call someone. Hmmmm, sounds simple, doesn't it? Yes it actually is simple, but when the powers goes off, the phones cut off as well. It's all coming together now! Anywho, an hour and a half later, my mother, father and I are sitting impatiently, sweating due to the lack of air conditioning and fan operation. To lighten the mood, I tell them of Cara's character sketch of a black ghetto woman named Shonequa. My mother finds it absolutely hysterical, while my father manages to crack a smile everytime I say stoopid! My nose, by this hour, has become Niagra Falls. My parents had suggested taking an antihestimine to prevent a sinus infection. THe only downfall to this would be the notion that I would not be able to drive after I take it. So, still planning on going out, I postpone my medication until I go to bed. Well the clock chimes at 12:30 and my plans to go out have basically desintigrated in front of me. I am now too hot, too tired, and too irritated to go out. Defeated, I go upstairs with the help of light from my lighter, take my medicine, and lie in my bed, anxiously anticipating a visit from Mr. Sandman. Unfortunately, Mr. Sandman has decided to visit my cat Isabella before me. She lies peacefully on my bed, snoring....can you believe that?! The cat was so deep in sleep that she would let out moaning snores in close to 15 second intervals. Although this was one of the cutest things she has done in a long time, my mood, offset by the disappointment of an uneventful evening and the awful heat contained in my stuffy house, did not allow me to enjoy her amusing slumber. Luckily I fell asleep soon after and the woke up to the greatest feeling in the world (sorry Jaime, not an IM from Nicole)....air conditioning and the fan blowing over head! So my nightmare of an evening seemed like only a bad dream....with God on my side, maybe I will be able to leave my house tonight!
