A wonderful morning in Columbia

After only receiving four and a half hours asleep (although I got to see a wonderful episode of Shipmates at 3:30 am), I was excited to spend the morning with my parents. They came up around 10:15 and we went to the McKissick Museum to see the exhibit on Jewish people in South Carolina. I could not have been more impressed. Among the great artifacts and portraits were stirring tales of life in Charleston at the turn of the 20th century. After its stay in Columbia, the exhibit is being transported to Charleston (early September), in which case, I will be more than willing to revisit it...hint, hint to my future roommate! :)
After completing the tour of the McKissick museum, my parents and I visited yet another museum, the Columbia Museum of Art (to which my parents are members). They had a wonderful exhibit called "The Visuality of the Blues". It was mainly composed of photographs, with some painting. Very moving though. Another exhibit we toured was the contempory art gallery....very nice. There was one painting of an underwater scene that was in a vibrant blue-green that simply took my breath away.
We stopped by the Rising High Natural Bread Company (makes me wonder what unnatural bread is?). I got an iced Mocha, my favorite. :) My dad got this Cinnamon roll that looked absolutely to die for. I decided on grapes...I wasn't too hungry since I had dinner at midnight last night. Nothing like a big Roast Beef sandwich in the middle of the night.
An uneventful ride home, if you don't count the banter between my dad and I about homosexuals in the media....don't ask! :) But now I am home at last! Home sweet home! What better way to break in a weekend than with a nice long nap....sounds good to me! Later....
