NEED Costume advice!!!

[midnightstation]

I need to dye the arms of a shirt so they look like they were dyed with blood. I do not want realistic as it would be more orange than red in real life. I want to re-create a shirt I ahve seen where the arms are dyed red to look like the person was just doing surgery.

What brand of dye works best? Should I mix some of the red with a little black and do different bath dunks? Should I dip the sleeves or paint them?

Suggestions? Comments? Critics?
