Rusalka
In slavic lore, Rusalki are the spirits of drowned maidens, which haunt rivers and lakes. They are either friendly or indifferent to humans in the summer, but they get cranky and psychotic in the winter, often luring men to the water and drowning them. In the summer they are beautiful girls, in the winter they are bloodless walking corpses with icicles for fingers. The best time to spot the Rusalki is during the new moon (when the moon is dark). This particular kind of wraith can kill with the sound of her laughter. It is a tradition to wear a sprig of fern in one's hair when bathing in a lake, as protection against the Rusalki.
