It's been a while since I updated. Oops.

I finally heard from Fantasy Magazine. Turns out that the reason they were being so slow with the contract is that they wanted to change it. The magazine is going to be changing to an online format starting in October, which is just in time for the scheduled publication of "Erased" in November. I'm mildly disappointed. It would be nice to have a hard copy of my story to pass around to friends and stingy relatives. Instead, some of my relatives won't see the story when it first comes out because they don't have/use the internet. And I'm pretty sure that the aunts and uncles and grandparents will think that the fact that it's an online magazine instead of print makes it a lesser magazine. On the plus side, no one has to pay to see it. Yay! Another plus side: They've raised my pay by a cent. Yay! One cent doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but when it's changing from $.02 to $.03 per word, that's half again more money. I like money. They're also planning on publishing anthologies of the fiction from the site biannually, so there's a more expensive hard copy option for those who are so inclined.

This dratted heat wave has been killing me. My house doesn't have air conditioning. Yesterday, my mom and I took refuge at my grandparents' house all afternoon. Today, we went to the mall. Luckily, while we were at the mall it stormed and the temperature plummeted like twenty degrees, going from the mid-nineties to the mid-seventies. Hopefully it won't get so hot again anytime soon.

Because I'd really like to make a little more money than I'm earning from my few days at my mom's office, I put my jewelry up on Etsy. Etsy is a pretty awesome site where people can sell handcrafted stuff. There are some really, really talented people there. Which is probably why no one's bought anything from me. *sigh*

I keep having moving-to-new-dorm dreams. They're better than my other recurring dream setting, which is malls, but it's getting a little repetitive. Last night I had variations of one new-dorm dream all night long. Earlier this summer, I had a dream that took place in a forest. I want that one again. Or the kitschy little tourist town. Or the campground. Just something different to spice things up. Is that so much to ask of my dreamlife? Oh well. At least they're not nightmares. I could have worse dreams.
