New Moon

Oh, I forgot. I read New Moon (the sequel to Twilight) more than a week ago, and meant to write my thoughts, because I know at least a couple people on my flist read it also.

Edward was such a freaking idiot in this book. Seriously, what was he thinking? He has lost Perfect Guy Vampire status, in my mind.

I really like Jacob, but I thought his whole now-that-I'm-a-werewolf-I'm-completely-different thing was totally unrealistic.

Also, I thought that the Victoria-is-coming-to-kill-me-aaah storyline wasn't developed nearly enough. I mean, we never even saw her. Instead it was like OMG-I-miss-Edward-so-much-it's-killing-me-and-by-the-way-I-think-there's-an-evil-vampire-who-wants-me-dead. And was it ever resolved? I really don't remember. If it wasn't resolved, that's bad, and if it was resolved and I just can't remember, that's even worse, because it means that Bella wasn't actively involved in solving her own problems, always a major no-no for fiction writers.

That said, I still really liked the book. I liked seeing the Italy vampires (can't remember their name off the top of my head), and I do really like Jacob, especially pre-werewolf angst. Another thing I didn't like was the unreasoning hatred between the vampires and the werewolves. I don't get it. "They smell bad" isn't enough for such full-out hatred.

So, yeah. I definitely had a lot of problems with it, but I also liked it, just because I do really like the characters, even when they're being asses.

Now I will do my bio.
