Update and stuff

Oi!

This entry has been cut to keep your friends pages short. ^_^

Tudo bem? Lol. For those who don't know, I'm in Brazil right now. No kidding. I'm in Canoas, RS in Brazil. :)

It's going well. Last night we went to a Churrasceria. OMFG, I've never seen or eaten so much cooked meat in my LIFE. They served us chicken, pork, beef, lamb... All right off of the sword-things. They also had Toasted Cheese and Pineapple. OMG.. Soooo muuuuch meeeaaaattt.. x_x. Another interesting fact.. They started with serving us this meat that no one knew what it was... But it's cultural so we ate it.... It turned out to be chicken hearts.. nummy.. -_-" kinda feel squicky about that.

So we're down here until like June 15th. I'm pumped to be learning Portugues. We've only been down here for five days and I'm picking it up really well. It's a lot softer sounding than Spanish. Kinda like Italian's softer. Another weird thing is that they are mutually intelligible (to a degree...) Before we arrived and before I had learned any Portuguese, we were on the plane and I was seated next to a woman from Brazil. We actually conversed for like 45 mins or maybe even an hour! Me speaking Spanish and she responding in Portuguese. The only thing is that one must speak a bit slower and more clearly than one would with another speaker of the same language. But it was cool. ^_^

I'm getting really tired though... we don't really get nap-time and our day starts at 0800 with breakfast... breakfast goes from 0800 to 0830. Then we head to a Universidade Luterana do Brasil (ULBRA) and classes begin at 0900. Class is in session from 0900-1300. Then we go to lunch. We take about 60-90 mins for lunch. Then, around 1515 or so, we usually go do something. The past few days we've gone to the mall or to try to get traveler's cheques cashed (with little success). Dinner takes place anywhere between 1830-2000. After that, we're free. Sure, I could nap or sleep then, but we usually just chill out with some of the other Americans from WVU. We've spent the whole day immersed in a foreign language.. It's nice to be able to just relax and use your native tongue. We sometimes watch HBO (it's in English with Portuguese subtitles), sometimes we play cards, sometimes we just chill. It's nice. The only thing is that I should try to get to bed earlier... to get eight hours of sleep, I'd have to hit the hay by 2300... Come on... When is that going to happen? Lol

Aiight, this entry seems to have reached a sufficient length. I'll try to keep y'all updated.

Até logo!
