Today is a very important day. Today is the day Roger and Andy are going to pick out their rings and outfits. They have discussed possible cuts and styles for both, but decided to wait to see what’s out there before choosing.

The doorbell rings as Andy’s sitting on the bed, buttoning up his shirt.

“Rogi, can you get that? It’s probably Mardy and Tommy.”

Roger smiles as he exits their room and quickly heads down the stairs to open the door. His body freezes up.

“Roger, my baby!”

Without warning, he is attacked by an older woman who is bestowing kisses all over his face. “H-hi, mom.”

Before he can say anything else, Lynette pushes past him into the house. “I’ve decided to come a little earlier to help with the wedding planning.”

Taking a few seconds to collect himself, Roger follows her into the living room. “That’s really nice of you, mom, but you didn’t need to.”

Lynette looks at her son sternly. “First, you don’t have the wedding in Switzerland. Now, you’re telling your mother she doesn’t need to help?”

Roger sighs as he moves closer to her. “No, it’s not like that. I just want you to relax and enjoy the wedding. There isn’t much to do anyway, we hired a wedding planner.” He can see her body stiffen up.

“A planner?” Lynette doesn’t say anymore, but her facial expressions say more than enough.

“Roger, is it Mardy and - Oh, hi Lynette!” Andy says as he walks into the room and hesitantly gives Roger’s mother a hug.

“Andy” Lynette says with a nod. “Are you two off somewhere? Perhaps wedding stuff I could help with?”

Andy looks to Roger who is struggling to say something. “Actually, we’re just about to go to lunch with our friends. Would you like to join us?”

Raising her rose as though smelling something putrid, Lynette shakes her head. “No, that’s ok. I left your father at the hotel so I should get back.” She leans in and kisses Andy on the cheek before doing the same to Roger and enveloping him in a hug. “I expect a call tomorrow for lunch, so we can sit down and discuss the full details of the wedding, Roger.”
Roger nods as he kisses his mom goodbye one last time before closing the door. Andy comes up to him and presses his lips against Roger’s lightly.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me that she’s in town?”

Roger sighs. “Why didn’t anyone warn me?”

Andy lets out a dramatic sigh after looking at the fifth ring that afternoon. “Fuck, Mardy. Why is this so hard? Why can’t Roger pick out his own damn ring?”

Chuckling, Mardy throws his arm over Andy’s shoulders. “Breathe, Andy. You’ll know it’s the right ring when you see it. This way is so much better then picking out your own rings.”

Andy snorts. “Yeah right. And I bet you Roger’s probably already picked out mine. I’m so helpless.”

If he weren’t so dramatic, he wouldn’t be Andy. Mardy just smiles and pushes him in the direction of more rings.

“Ok, I say we just leave now, Tommy,” Roger says as the frustration sets in. Not one of the rings they’ve looked at it is the one. He only wants the best for his Andy.

“Come on, Roger. There’s so many more to look at. What about this one?” Tommy’s trying his best to reassure Roger, but the man is making it really hard.

“No”.

“You didn’t even look at it! Come on, Roger! You’re wedding is in less than a month! You have no time to act like an idiot!”

Roger pouts. “I am not acting like an idiot.” When Tommy raises a brow, Roger concedes. “Ok, ok. Show me again.”

After two hour and two rings later, the four men enter a men’s tailoring shop where the owner and good friend, Hugh, greets them.

With a hug and kiss on the cheek, Hugh backs away slightly, excitement brewing in his eyes. “I can’t believe you two are getting married!”

Roger blushes as Andy grins like a maniac. “It’s about time, don’t you think?”

The men share a brief laughter together before Hugh shows Andy and Roger to the changing rooms where he had laid out certain outfits he has put together.

The first suit Andy tries on is a three piece charcoal suit that has him grinning as soon as he steps out to model for Mardy. “See. This is how shopping is supposed to be. I’m done.”

Mardy gets up from where he was sitting and circles Andy. “Now, lets not be so hasty. It looks good but lets see what else Hugh has for you.”

“What’s the point, I want this one.” Andy knows he’s pouting but he doesn’t care. It’s his wedding, damn it!

“Just try them on, ok?” Mardy has his stern face on that makes Andy obey and go try on some more.

On the other side of the shop, Roger is not very happy. He’s gone through the three suits Hugh picked out for him and hates them all. Two of the three made him look like a stuffy bastard. The third one wasn’t so bad. It just didn’t look like a wedding suit. Roger sits and waits with Tommy, wondering how this day could go so horribly.

“Cheer up, Rog. You’re acting like somebody told you you can’t play at Wimbledon.” Tommy’s trying to lighten up the mood but Roger doesn’t appreciate it.

“This is worse! I’m going to end up walking down the aisle in my boxers!” He says as he gestures with his hand wildly.

“Dramatic, much?” Tommy mutters as Hugh comes back with a piece of fabric and a catalogue in his hand.

“Ok, Roger. I couldn’t find a ready-made suit in my collection but what if we tried this?” Hugh shows Roger and Tommy a picture of a fabulous grayish-brown suit. “It’s from my fall collection. I call it Concrete Urban. This is the fabric.”

Roger’s sulk quickly turns into a smile as he takes a hold of the piece of cloth. “I love it!”

Tommy takes a look at the picture before moving his gaze to Roger. He does this a few times before nodding his consent. “That’s the one”

Hugh beams. “Ok. I can have it done a week before the wedding. I already have your measurements but you can come in for the final fitting when it’s done.”

Roger all but jumps on Hugh. “Thank you so much! Maybe this wedding is going to go the way we want!”

Hugh is still laughing as the excited couple and slightly scared looking friends exit his shop.
