My mom and I never went to bed last night, we stayed up and finished the kitchen. I took a short nap this afternoon, but essentially I've been up for close to 38 hours.
This week, in my car I've been listening to my 'Bargainville' (Moxy Früvous) cd. The past few days I've been skipping most of the songs and just listening to "The Drinking Song ", "Morphée", "Spiderman", and "Gulf War Song". The last one in particular has been stuck in my head all day today (even though I haven't been in my car since Friday afternoon). Singing the lyrics in my head all night while painting behind the refrigerator, I came up with
"Sarah Jean's Songs Stuck in My Head: War and Peace":
1. "The March of Cambreadth" - Heather Alexander ("How many of'em can we make die?")
2. "How Happy the Soldier" - popular during Revolutionary War and War of 1812 (the tune is really peppy)
3. "Letters From War" - Mark Schultz (I cry when I watch the Music Video)
4. "When Johnny Comes Marching Home - written by Patrick S. Gilmore (Did you know this song was sung by soldiers on both sides of the "War between the States"? It's credited to a union bandmaster.)
5. "Give Peace A Chance" - John Lennon (Gotta have some Lennon on the list)
6. "Why, Soldiers Why?"- aka "Wolfe's Song" from the French and Indian War (I first learned about this song in Fifth Grade - Mr. Good, my teacher, was a major History Buff)
7. "Battle Hymn of the Republic" - written by Julia War Howe (Bet you didn't know it was written by a woman?!)
8. "Why Can't We Be Friends" - War (The title is repeated over 40 times throughout the song- I once counted.)
9. "One Tin Soldier (The Legend Of Billy Jack)" - Coven (I used to cry every time I heard this song)
10. "General Taylor" - Great Big Sea (He gained the day, but lost his life)
11. "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?"- Peter, Paul, and Mary (I was contemplating between this song and "If I Had a Hammer")
12. "Gulf War Song" - Moxy Früvous (Inspired the List)
13. "Blowin' in the Wind" - Bob Dylan (You have to have "Blowin' in the Wind" on a list like this!)
