Ouch... Tried to do an actual jog today. I've been trying to build up to it over the last few weeks. Started with a short walk, now I can walk 4 miles pretty easily. I've also been trying to push up the speed. Walking is usually 3.5-4 miles an hour. I've thrown in some jogging, but my shins started hurting almost immediately, and my bad knee wasn't too happy either. After watching some videos on technique this evening, I felt confident in my ability to jog without causing too much damage to my bones... Turns out, that's not the problem I was going to face tonight. I made it a half mile before I ran out of breath and had to walk for a stretch, the next stint was maybe a quarter mile, but the walk afterwards was far longer. About halfway through my "Short" (2.5 miles) path, I had to take a quick route back. My shin muscles locked up completely. Had trouble making to the front door. Perhaps next time I will take it easy. Felt like I actually accomplished more in that 20 minutes than I normally do in 40 minutes of brisk walking though, so I will definitely try again. Now I'm off to eat something with alot of protein in it, cause I'm SUPER low on calories today. I'm thinking Mexican.
