AN: This was a draft to my fic There There, but I decided to go in another direction. Months later, when I was going over my unfinished works, I decided to wordcount it on a whim. What do ya know, it turned out to be exactly 221 words, the last word coincidentally starting with 'b'!
He's had enough. He's going to move out this time, this time for sure. He packed with the efficiency of a soldier and finished in the short time it took the taxi to get here. Just as he grabbed his cane and was about to limp down the stairs, Sherlock blocked his way.
His hair was damp, and his face wet, whether from the rain or tears, John couldn't tell.
“Please, John, don't leave. You know I don't mean it.”
With his head hung in shame and shoulders trembling slightly, Sherlock was the very portrait of regret. John pinched his nose. Acting, it was all acting. He tried to push past him, but Sherlock shifted his weight to block his path.
“Move.”
“John, we need to have a rational discussion about this. I can't help being myself-”
“What, a psychopath?”
“A high functioning sociopath.”
John attempted to pass by him again, and barely squeezed through.
At the door, he heard a “I'm sorry.” Sherlock's voice was earnest and pleading, cracking just the right amount to make it believable and noticeable.
John gave a sarcastic chuckle. “You think me a fool Sherlock Holmes, that I'll just bite the same bait again and again?” He walked through the front door and slammed it, never looking back.
