Up and up

So, things are finally looking up. People kept telling me to be patient but that is not one of my strong suits. I just needed to find the right store I guess. I subbed for 2 lessons on Monday, it was a lot of fun. I reinvigorated me so I started applying places again. I know giving up and hiding my head was not the answer but rejection is something I am not accustomed to.

So the first studio I went to is tiny, they only have 3 rooms, one of which is the owners. But, he doesn't have a woodwind teacher and he was very nice. He's an old jazzer and was pretty chatty. He shared UA and BBB background and we hit it off well. He said I was welcome to teach there. He also gave me the lowdown on other places in town and recommended one I was planning on heading to that day, did not recommend one I had been dragging my heels on, glad he agreed there. Today he called and had a list of 14 names for me to cold call, all people who rented from him recently. I should be able to get a couple off of that at least.

I also applied at the one he recommended, the owner was nice, reminds me of kris kringle in one of the santa klaus movies I can't remember the name of. I gave him my paperwork and he referred me to their online application and told me they don't need a teacher but could use a sub. Today he called and apologized for rushing me out yesterday, which I didn't feel he had, and asked if I could come back for a proper chat this weekend. Yay!

Also, I emailed the fine arts guy again about missing the boat on the para pro stuff and if he had any info on the test i needed to take so i would be ready if anything else opened up. Turns out I did not miss the boat and he asked what my preference for age group would be in an ideal world. They are still sorting through things there and he will get back to me. But it sounds like there might be something for me.

And finally, D and I both get to teach online history of rock this semester and the next. There are 3 8 week courses both semesters. And they pay well, and give us access to resources at the college. They pay what we would need to survive for 7 months. So, ca-ching!

It's funny how it is all starting to fall into place at the same time. So today is doing all the paperwork for CSN to be part time faculty there. Tomorrow is cold calls to try to get students. Saturday is an interview with a very nice gentleman. It's a really good week.
