Just a brief post, today. I haven't posted in a while because I've been dealing with a repetitive stress injury (RSI) which is most likely compression of the nerves in my right wrist. (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the most well-known form of this.)
Basically my fingertips were numb and the muscles in my hand would "burn" after typing for longer than 5 minutes. Even writing by hand was difficult and tiring. I kept dropping things because a) I couldn't tell how tightly I was holding them and b) my fingers wouldn't obey when I told them to grasp an object. I was pretty sure it was RSI since I've had problems on and off for years now. The difference this time is it didn't get better after resting my hand for a day or two.
I'm on an anti-inflammatory and wearing a wrist brace. Luckily, the numbness is gone, but I still can't type for more than a minute or two at a time. Writing is easier than typing, but unfortunately 90% of the Day Jobbe is done on a computer. Hopefully surgery won't be necessary.
The most annoying part of this is I'm way behind in my
jonowrimo goals. :P
The good news is that word counts aren't the only part of writing a novel. The plot for my next novel is simmering in the back of my mind, and the plot of the novel I started and stopped before FALLEN has been prickling, so hopefully the lessons I learned by writing FALLEN can be put to use.
And that's all for now. I try to post once a week, but that will probably decrease to once or twice a month for a while. I have been using Twitter more since it's shorter format is easier for me. Come find me over there:
twitter.com/midnightblooms. I'm still reading and commenting on blogs and LJ, so you'll see me around now and then.
Take care of yourselves!
