You know, when Elena is at her manipulative best, these are the times I'd like Damon to remember that she is a Petrova, after all.

Also, there is something about Damon microwaving a mug of blood that is deliciously disgusting!

what she can no longer pretend not to know (that he loves her, that he will always choose her, that she still loves Stefan and that his heart yearns in vain-just as it did all those years ago when he was a different man for a girl with the same face).
I also really like it when Elena is deep in Denialsville.

But still she says nothing, feels that to do so would be to upset the easy peace this summer has managed to harvest between them (she puts aside her mental reproach against smoke mirrors and pitiful facades).
I love this sentence. But also, it's funny that she's so bothered by the motel room -- why is this harder for her than living at the Boarding House? Hmmm, Elena, why oh why???

For a second, just a second, she can almost say she sees what all those women who watch him at The Grill with avid eyes and secret smiles see.
Right, Elena. Because you've never stared at his mouth and imagined him having his way with you. Right.

I like that in her effort to NOT forget Stefan, she projects that Damon must be thinking of Katherine while they're having sex. Even though, you just know Katherine is the furthest thing from his mind.

that ensures they are inseparable at this point (as if they-any of them-were ever truly separable to begin with, as if history didn’t act as a precedent for their lives).
Oh, GAH!

The memories drive her will, make certain that her and Katherine Pierce will never see eye to eye on anything (except a part of her knows that perhaps they already have).
And Elena loves them BECAUSE Katherine made them what they are. *sigh*

So lovely and soul-crushing, really.

hehe indeed "Daddy Issues" totally dropped the ball on Elena's manipulative ways (she is a Petrova after all) and I will always treasure that moment of imperfection and Damon calling her out for it (it inspired so much of what she did in this fic tbh) <33
