I just got back from my Tae Kwon Do class, so quick entry before I have to go out to work. Lol, busy busy busy...
I love the Saturday morning class, because more often than not the 'kids' take it (Aiden, Raven and Steven, who are all under 18, so I say the kids lol). They're warm-ups are always completely knackering, but the class itself, once they've done all the serious teaching, always tend to have something fun thrown into it (these guys are used to teaching the under-13s before hand, so are still in fun, learning-games mode XD).
Today, we spent the last 10 minutes taking turns to stand in the centre of the dojo, blindfolded, and doing a pattern of our choice. The idea was, if you were doing it right, it shouldn't matter that you're blindfolded - you should come back to standing in that exact same spot, facing the same direction by the time you get to the end, no matter how many moves are in it, or where they take you in the dojo.
So, I'm really proud of myself today. I thought there was no way I'd manage it - patterns make me more nervous than anything else, 'cause I'd say my stances are my weak spot. I chose Palgae 1 as I knew I could get through the entirety of that one without panicking lol. And it must have been a good choice - I finished up standing just 2 INCHES behind the spot I started in, facing perfectly forward :D I was so surprised. I did better than both the purple and the black belts that had a go! XD It was such a weird feeling going through a Palgae completely blind, but it's true that it does help your concentration if you have no other distractions and are just in that 'zone'.
Anyways, that's made me all happy today if nothing else ^_^ So, now I'll go ruin that feeling by going to work ;p
Ja ne~
