Good thing there are weekends. By time 5pm Friday rolled around, I was ready to run naked and shrieking into the Niagara Gorge.
I was in Niagara Falls, behind the old Canadian Niagara power plant, rehabilitating a test well with another co-worker. We not only managed to lose a $500 water-level tape down the well, but also to bridge the sand a good six metres ABOVE where the water was supposed to be, rendering the well useless for now.
But the world was not so black as it seemed. A few hours later when I abandoned my plan of trying to bash the sand further down with some tubing, I set out to St Thomas to chill with Jen. We scoped out a bar for its band potential, had a few beers, watched a few DVDs, took a walk around night-time St Thomas, and generally had the kind of night that I think we both severely needed.
We had our traditional Hangover Breakfast at Golden Griddle- it's traditional now because the waitress recognized us. After some comic-shopping and coffee in downtown London, I hit the road back to Waterloo, in possession of some brand new mix CDs- thanks again Jen! (Also, some bad news- you know how the 'best of BLAM' burned really quick, but we tested it and it seemed to work? It only plays the first 2 minutes of 'Bank Job').
Saturday night I hit the Whale with Chris, Jessica, Erin, and Erin's new guy, Scott. Turns out he's a recent graduate of Fanshawe graphic design. Loved every minute of it.
Band practice today. Ken is beginning to behave like a bassist (read: irresponsible and unreliable), but Cara, Anuj and I rented a sweet jam hall in Burlington and rocked out for a solid six hours. We're not 'Something Useless' anymore, thank goodness... that name was worn out. But look for 'Canis' playing shows near you... perhaps opening for a certain apocalyptic bluegrass band I also happen to sort of be in... who knows, eh Chantal?
This week can only be better than last week. Peace, love, and rock & roll to all- I'm gone.
