Gah. The episode was awesome. I had to do a lot of recaping in it, since I was watching with someone who'd never seen the show before, so I'll probably have to see it again to be sure about it. Hooray for the internet in that regard.
It was also heavily Mick/Beth which I'm fine with, in this fandom at least. Josh seemed like he was all over Mick at the beginning of the episode and I kept wondering if he was thinking Mick and Beth were getting it on and he was scoping out the competition or if he was looking for action from Mick himself. Josh needs to look a little less metro. Er, well. Maybe not. It's a good look for him. ^_^
Watching Mick try to be a good vampire in the desert was awesome. Especially the part where he and the nanny passed under a (was it?) Joshua tree, and he was leaning into her neck, right before they found the motel. And throwing them out of the bathroom. He suffers pretty.
I kept staring at the "ice" in the tub and finally decided it looked like cut up paraffin.
And speaking of the ice, was that motel run down or not? The bathroom looked like a drug fueled frat party, the bedroom was less dissasembled, and I think Mick and the Nanny just kind of kicked the door in. (Did they?) But later I think the neon was on, and if the power wasn't on/the motel open and operational why was there ice and water for the tub?
I loved watching Beth play with her clothes durring the bite scene. Mick was so very no about the whole thing, and she's like I'm not letting you die like this so you're going to bite me, and then she's suddenly like, uh, how do we do this? I thought it was sweet, and cute, and a little hot.
And I want to know what she did to make Mick stop. You know that has to be good.
And why she didn't make the Herbal Essences Face at the biting. I mean, it's Biting. Biting is totally awesome, and we've already seen two girls swooning at it. Beth made a sort of "Narg, he's biting me." face. Still, biting. Yay.
And then, when I was recaping the ep to a friend online I wondered where Josef was all episode. The answer:
"making money and not being in the desert"
Hah. Sounds very like Josef, though him being all white knight, with or without Beth, could have been pretty awesome. In fact.... *thinks inappropriate thoughts about that* You know, they could....Nurse him back to health... Comfort him... Gah.
As for the next episode, I completely forgot what the plot was. Watching Beth hound Mick about avoiding her pretty much took up my entire synopsis for next Friday. And I liked the way she said, "You fed on me." Like there was a good chance in her mind it'd be happening again.
And just for humor's sake, here's my IM recap of the end of the episode:
MidKnight2501: and then they're safe and whatever, and beth is at home with josh and he's like omg i love you and you're safe and you hurt your arm
MidKnight2501: and she's like hah. hah. i uh. i fell.
MidKnight2501: and she looks totally awkward and i'm like she and mick totally must have made out
MidKnight2501: and mick is emoing around his apartment
MidKnight2501: and she comes and knocks on the door and he won't answer and she leans her face on it, and mick leans his face on it, and his voice over is like, "zomg i'm no good for her and she's going to get hurt and this have to stop."

MidKnight2501: and i was like nooooooooooo
