Writer's Block: My Sixth Grade Jam

Jan 17, 2008 13:11

Oh, sixth grade. About the time that I got so massivly into Lord of the Rings I thought I might die from it all. It was a strange period. I lived so much in my head that my mom started worrying and claiming "that's why you have no friends!" Naturally, that was not why. No need in going into depths about that, really.

However, much of this time went into my obsession and such matters. I might emerge from elven studies and Middle-earthian history through the Ages every once in a while to like, eat. I got a lot of new friends from all over the world, too, and improved my English greatly, so I didn't entirely become an eremit, because at the time I thought being social on the Internet still counted. Oh, the joys of ignorace.

So, my theme-song for this period was The Council of Elrond (Aníron) sung by Enya on the LotR:FotR OST. I worshipped that song - and still do - because of how beautifully ethereal it weaves this tale of Lúthien and Béren in a language that does not really excist. I guess you could say that this song marks the center of this obsession of mine, because I would listen to it ALL the time, constantly, when I could. And so, when I listen to it now, I still get that tingly warm feeling that I got when I first experienced the impact that Mr. Tolkiens work can have on a soul.
